Late-September 2006

We met up with two other home educating large families at Hatton Country Park, lots of animals, a  picnic lunch and bouncy castle…really enjoyable day.

we bought a number of Lego Technic sets and this is one of the models they built…

Rebekah’s Orange Tip butterfly copied from an insect book she has been reading…

Timothea’s stethoscope…piggy’s heartbeat is 80 over 120.

They spent all morning making various hospital instruments and role playing what they had seen on Discovery Home & Health channel…

A partly finished house…

Can’t remember what this was but I know it was important…

Yes they are all ours…

Making masks…

Timothea having a turn with the pneumatic Dacta Lego set…

We recently bought some phonics resources…

We attach importance to older children being able to assist and learn to play with younger children as an important social skill…

Rare photo with all of us present at once…in Grannie and Grandfather’s garden.

Together we built a motorised Lego Technic monkey that climbs along a string…

Worked very well and a lot of fun for the children too…

Mid-August 2006

One of the pets enjoyed by the children are GALS (Giant African Land Snails) currently 7-8cm across. They can reach 15cm or more.

Here one is munching a seed mix for calcium for their shells.

Cute aren’t they – well not to everyones taste but we like them…

A playdough meal…

Nannie stayed with us for the summer months (from Ecuador); she was in popular demand to read every book in the house…

Busy building shapes using the magnetic rods and balls…

Lots of views of the complicated business of making Technic models…some of these actually are very difficult.

Birthday cake…

Lots more Arthur bits arrived in the post…

They really enjoy helping me to put him together…lots of new bone names to learn.

Each part also comes with a guide magazine that is suitable for them to read…

Drawings by Naomi, Rebekah and Timothea of Abraham, Sarah and Lot…

Rebekah’s model…

Art and craft lesson in progress…

New set of oil pastels…lots of fun.

Rebekah’s watercolour painting of ‘the purple headed mountain’ from her favourite hymn.

Late-July 2006

Outside bug hunting…

They all made flowers using different coloured papers…

Whole Church went on a trip to the Cotwold Wildlife Park…

It’s like a giant guinea pig – about 1 metre long!!!

Looking at different flags of the world…

Using a solar scince kit we made the fan work using just the sunlight…

This is our solar collector that warmed some water in a test tube…

Using a basic mulitmeter to give us measureable readings…

Here are the flags we made…

It’s not all about work, Rebekah letting off steam…
